Building a Sustainable Energy Ecosystem

Saudi Arabia has committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2060, driving substantial investments in energy modernization and sustainability. As part of this effort, GE Vernova is expanding its presence in Saudi Energy Innovations, introducing major initiatives to enhance grid infrastructure, local manufacturing, and digital energy solutions. Among its most impactful moves is the expansion of the GE Saudi Advanced Turbines (GESAT) facility in Dammam, which will enable the local production of high-voltage gas-insulated switchgears—a first for the Middle East.

By focusing on industrialization, engineering expertise, and export growth, GE Vernova’s investments align with Saudi Vision 2030, supporting economic diversification and a more resilient power sector. These efforts are not only strengthening Saudi Arabia’s energy independence but also creating high-value jobs and ensuring the Kingdom remains a leader in global energy innovation.

Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Energy Infrastructure

With a 90-year legacy in Saudi Arabia, GE Vernova is reinforcing its commitment to energy transformation by expanding its GE Manufacturing Technology Center (GEMTEC) in Dammam. This facility plays a critical role in grid automation and digitalization, helping modernize Saudi Arabia’s electrical network while improving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

The expansion of GESAT and GEMTEC aligns with Saudi Arabia’s vision to reduce dependency on imported technology, strengthening regional industrial capabilities. These investments enhance the Kingdom’s ability to meet growing electricity demands while accelerating the transition toward a smarter, more interconnected power grid.

What makes these advancements even more impactful is their direct contribution to Saudi employment growth, creating opportunities for local engineers and specialists to lead the next era of power generation.

Developing Saudi Engineering Expertise

In a landmark achievement, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and GE Vernova successfully completed the first-ever gas turbine outage led entirely by Saudi engineers at Riyadh’s 8th Power Plant. The milestone demonstrates that Saudi talent is now capable of managing complex energy operations without external reliance, marking a shift toward greater local expertise in maintaining advanced power infrastructure.

To continue fostering engineering capabilities, GE Vernova signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SEC to accelerate grid modernization and digital transformation. Through this partnership, SEC will integrate GE Vernova’s GridOS® technology, designed to optimize Saudi Arabia’s electricity network for improved efficiency and flexibility.

Additionally, GE Vernova is establishing a Regional Center of Competency & Excellence in Riyadh, ensuring Saudi Arabia remains at the forefront of cutting-edge energy research and workforce development. This initiative strengthens the Kingdom’s ability to train future energy leaders while reinforcing its standing as a global center for energy innovation.

Expanding Energy Exports & Driving Economic Diversification

Saudi Arabia’s energy transformation is not only reshaping domestic infrastructure but also strengthening its position in global energy markets. At the New Era of Energy forum, GE Vernova and Saudi EXIM Bank announced detailed Protocols of Cooperation, designed to boost the export of Saudi-manufactured high-tech energy solutions.

These agreements support financing and insurance programs, making it easier for Saudi companies to expand exports and contribute to economic diversification beyond oil. By building an advanced energy technology manufacturing hub, Saudi Arabia is securing its place as a global energy powerhouse, ready to lead the future of sustainable energy solutions.

Paving the Way for a Resilient Energy Future

With these bold investments, GE Vernova is helping Saudi Arabia modernize its grid, strengthen industrial capabilities, and empower local engineers—all while aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s sustainability and economic diversification goals.

As Saudi Energy Innovations continue to take shape, the Kingdom is solidifying its leadership in high-tech energy solutions, paving the way for a smarter, more efficient, and globally competitive power sector. The next era of Saudi energy is being built today—and it’s powered by bold action, local expertise, and transformative innovation.
